Roasted Garlic Mashed Turnips

Ingredients
  • 5 Turnips
  • 2-3 Tbs olive oil enough to lightly coat turnips
  • 1/2 Tsp sea salt
  • 1/2 Tsp Garlic powder
  • 1/4 Tsp Fresh ground black pepper
  • 1/4 Tsp Paprika
  • 1/4 Cup Chicken or beef broth
  • 1 Tsp Soy free seasoning sauce
  • 1/3 Cup Parmesan cheese grated (optional)
Toppings
  • green onions chopped
  • Crumbled bacon
  • Sour cream or greek yogurt

  • 5 Turnips

Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 350F
  2. Wash and cut tops off of turnips, rub them with sea salt and olive oil. Wrap tightly in aluminum foil.
  3. Place turnips on a baking sheet and bake for approx. 1 hour, or until soft. Be careful not to overcook them.
  4. Remove turnips from oven and open the tin foil shells
  5. Carefully scoop out the interior of the turnip , leaving the external intact, and put the contents in a medium sized bowl
  6. Add the spices, broth, and soy free seasoning sauce and mash until creamy
  7. Spoon the mixture back into the turnips and sprinkle the tops with grated parmesan
  8. Return turnips to the oven for another 10-15 minutes
  9. Remove from oven and add your toppings
